Gordon Smith Case

gordon smithFather of two, Gordon Smith was the victim of 14 false police reports by his ex-wife. Smith was falsely arrested nine times for various domestic violence charges, one terrifying time at gunpoint.

Listen as he tells his harrowing story:

Tiffany Smith was caught in her web of deception in September 2012 after she cut herself and lay in a ditch, accusing Mr. Smith of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Police used Gordon’s electronic monitoring device to confirm that he was nowhere near Tiffany at the time, and she was finally arrested. All charges against Gordon Smith were dismissed.

“Tiffany Smith 29 reported several domestic related crimes to the Dover Police and Delaware State Police over a period of time in August in which she stated she was victimized by her ex-husband Gordon Smith 47. On August 18 the Dover Police arrested Mr. Smith on several charges relating to a domestic incident. After the arrest Tiffany Smith continued reporting that Mr. Smith was stalking her and on one occasion had physically attacked her. A joint investigation by Dover Police and the Delaware State Police found that Tiffany Smith falsified all the complaints she made against Mr. Smith. Tiffany Smith was arrested on three counts of falsely reporting an Incident and one count of providing a false statement. Mr. Gordon Smith must be exonerated. His reputation must be restored and his record cleared completely.

    Been there, done that too.
Took years to clear my name, including giving evidence in both criminal and civil litigation, but I once again enjoy the stellar reputation I had for nearly 4 decades.

Hello from Georgia. I have been in the same boat for the last 5 years. Two perjured TPOs. The 2nd TPO was granted in part because a 1st TPO existed – even though the 1st TPO was dropped by my ex-wife and all legal expenses paid to drop it after she found out she would be jailed for perjury if she didn’t settle.

TPOs are handed out like candy here in GA because everyone in the legal process profits (esp lawyers for the “victim”). It is funny how easy they make reporting a TPO on all of the court websites, or at the court itself, but ask for information from the same source on on how to defend yourself against false TPOs and you get “we don’t provide legal advice” from the same people helping false accusers.

Once a “temporary” restraining order is signed (usually without the other party being present to give their side of the story) the game of clearing your reputation begins and it can take years.

My small bit of advice. If you can afford legal help never let the accusation simply go away. Fight to have your name cleared in every possible way after the TPO or charges are dropped. Be able to show anyone all of the facts in legal documents – not simply your word – if they ask why you have this on your record.

Get transcripts of every hearing or trial you attend! They will help you later. It is expensive but do it. You can win in the end but you have to be calm and patient for the legal system to work. In my case my judge ordered she could be the only judge to hear any new TPO accusations – this prevented judge shopping TPOs – a tactic of “victims”. Start there and then work to be compensated for all of your damages from anyone who lied or was lazy doing their job in the legal system. Good luck!
